John has nearly two decades of energy industry experience in technical and financial roles. Prior to joining FMEP John was the Energy Director at Varde Partners, a ~$15 billion AUM alternative investment manager where he oversaw both private equity and credit investments in U.S. Upstream assets.
Prior to joining Varde Partners, John was a Vice President at Evercore Partners where he advised on over $10 billion in energy transactions including M&A, A&D, restructurings, and capital raises. John began his career as a Reservoir Engineer at BP, working in numerous on shore U.S. resource plays.
John holds a B.S. in Petroleum Engineering from The University of Texas at Austin.
Justin serves as the Vice President of Land and Business Development at Franklin Mountain Energy Partners (FMEP), bringing extensive upstream experience across the continental United States.
Prior to joining FMEP, Justin was at Haymaker Minerals &Royalties III LLC, where he led, sourced, executed, and managed transactions exceeding $100 million across numerous onshore US resource plays.
Prior to joining Haymaker, Justin managed the land and business development efforts at Rio Oil and Gas I & II, LLC (Quantum portfolio company) focused on the Permian Basin. Justin began his career as a land negotiator at Occidental Petroleum before transitioning into the business development group. Throughout his career, he has transacted on over $4 billion in upstream energy assets.

While at RBC, J.D. was involved in over $75 billion of announced M&A/A&D transactions across the Permian, Eagle Ford, Bakken, DJ, Appalachian, Powder River, and Anadarko basins.
Prior to joining RBC Richardson Barr, J.D. was a geologist at Chevron in the Midcontinent Business Unit focused on exploration and development within the Midland Basin.
